Gemma Maddocks

Gemma Maddocks is the founder of GEM Literacy. She is an experienced primary school teacher and leader who has taught in New Zealand, United Kingdom, Kuwait and China.

Gemma is currently the Literacy Leader and Literacy Intervention Specialist Teacher at Robertson Road School where she leads Structured Literacy from Year 1-8.

Gemma also uses her literacy intervention experience and passion to support schools and educators to create equitable learning pathways in reading, writing and spelling so ALL our ākonga can succeed.

At GEM Literacy we know that it is teacher knowledge and expertise which has the biggest impact on ākonga achievement. We empower teachers to take ownership of their learning through an explicit, systematic and cumulative approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling.
